OLD NAMES
What's behind some old and sometimes forgotten pottery names of  Stoke on Trent

During the Lifetime of A. T Finney & Sons Duchess China and right through to more recent times there have been some fabulous designs of china products. To stay ahead of the pack and up front it takes the knowledge of what customers want - and these wants have to be reflected in the products that are made.

The oldest designs are now very rare indeed and although they are not as valuable as some other pottery of the 19th Century, it's still possible to collect and even make money from the older designs. Take a look at our back stamp pages to help you date various pieces.

The menu on the left has a number of older and relatively recent designs from Duchess China and we are trying to update these with older samples as time goes by. If you have any old Duchess China let us know - We would love to feature it on these pages.

Newer or current Duchess China is not a subject of this website.
