OLD NAMES
What's behind some old and sometimes forgotten pottery names of  Stoke on Trent

Tranquility design originates from the same period as Green Sleeves and June Bouquet. It is most likely part of a whole series of designs that were introduced together by A. T. Finney & Sons - Duchess China. The product was still on the market in December 1999. This is a delicate design and suited to the buying public at it's inception. It is likely that this design today has a reduced life and will be replaced by newer and more vibrant coloured designs in the future.

This particular example of Tranquility was in fact Lithographed by one of the authors of the web site. It's nice to know that you have been part of the production of a product and it's possible to identify the product as having passed through you hands.

Most pottery produced in factories in Stoke on Trent (and indeed the world) have marks to show who carried out certain steps of the production - click HERE to find out more.
